Swordfish Projects Overview  

Collectively the PIER tean has several projects that focus on the movements, physiology,
ecology and fishery development for swordfish off the California coast.

Specific projects include

• Studies of heat balance in free-swimming swordfish
• Examining the fine-scale movement patterns of swordfish 
• The development and trial of deep-set buoy gear in Southern California
• Collaborative work with NOAA on understanding the movements and fishery dynamics along the Central Coast of California
