The Pfleger (Flā-ɡər) Institute of Environmental Research (PIER) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded by Tom Pfleger in 1998.  PIER is dedicated to the advancement of sustainable fisheries management and public education through applied field research.

PIER works with state and federal resource managers to fill data gaps and ensure a sustainable future for our marine environment.  Although PIER has projects and collaborators across the globe, its primary focus is on research that benefits our local community.
