PIER, with support from the Sportfishing Association of California, is conducting an international sand bass tagging program designed to better understand fish movements across the U.S.–Mexico border. Tagging efforts have been carried out aboard San Diego-based sport boats as well as a Mexican research program using fish traps. Tagging locations have been concentrated from the border region to approximately 20 nautical miles south.
